Six Degrees Backpacker Hostel
Fabulous backpacker hostel

What we say:
In a town full of dodgy budget options, Six Degrees stands head and shoulders above the rest. Opened in late 2011 by a foreign concern, this hostel has every aspect of a guest's needs covered. In the dorm rooms each bed comes with a personal light, power socket with accompanying basket for your phone as well as an individual locker. All guests receive towels and free breakfast and even the cheapest rooms come with air-con. The WiFi here is some of the fastest you will get in Indonesia and is accessible in all of the rooms as well as the fantastic common area. The common area comes equipped with a playstation, big video screen, pool table, a bar and a nifty little lounge area. The common area also has some great information about Jakarta and surrounding areas. This is a top hostel and is worth the extra expense versus those budget digs in Jalan Jaksa.

The rooms and facilities are nice here - nothing special for the room, but all the restrooms and showers are spotless and there was never a line. However, the most appealing part is the staff and owners. The Sumatran twins who are married to the guy's that own the place were really lovely and helpful. The guys were also great fun and had plenty to offer on how to enjoy the city. However, the company was so great along with the other guests that I spent most of my evenings out on the rooftop enjoying the fresh air and chatting. Anyone who goes to Jakarta I highly recommend a stay here - I wouldn't go anywhere else if I return. Probably want to book ahead, s their popularity is rising and I saw a few people turned away when I was there.
