Disinterested staff, slightly overpriced

What we say:

A slightly dingy place, Hostel 35 offers basic rooms just off Jalan Jaksa for prices we think are too expensive. But the Jaksa area is sometimes busy and this hotel may well be your backup. The rooms are clean and well-aired and the bathrooms are clean enough. The beds in the rooms are foam and the bathrooms in the cheaper rooms are cold water squat toilet types. Go for a room with air-con and they also chuck in TV and Western toilet â€“ now we're talking luxury. The staff here can seem a little disinterested so be persistent if you want anything â€“ like a room.
