Bale Karang is a hotel built in late 2011 which is located across the road from the Batu Karas reef break about two kilometres north of the main Batu Karas beach. The rooms are simply concrete boxes that have been tastefully decorated to become great hotel rooms – really – featuring fridge, air-con, soft beds, great sheets, flat screen TV with international channels and fancy outdoor hot water bathroom with Western toilet. The large family room is a steal at a fraction less than double the rate of the standard room rate. The only downside to this place is its location, but if you have your own transport, this issue is largely negated.
