Gaudiness on a budget
Jalan Raya Cipanas No. 166 T: (0262) 231 422
The original in the Tirta Mertha family, this hotel is a bit of a gaudy throwback to the past with an abundance of concrete shaped into trees and other objects and painted turquoise and brown.
It really does nothing for the aesthetic appeal of the place, but one can overlook this lack of taste when offered rooms as cheap as they are here. For your money you get a big clean room with spring bed, threadbare sheets, local TV straight out of the 1980s, a spacious bathroom with scalding hot spring water-fed bath and a Western toilet sans toilet seat. It's certainly a budget joint, but does the job just fine. Towel and soap not included.
