What we say:

La Javanaise offers basic double rooms with fans and cold water, but the friendly owners make this relaxed guesthouse an ideal place to stay in Yogyakarta. Tucked away off Jalan Sosrowijayan in a small alleyway that is only a five minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Malioboro La Javanaise can be difficult to find, but worth the effort. The upstairs rooms offer a view over the neighborhood and are gathered around a large set of traditional gamelan musical instruments (don't worry, they are only for show... the owner said there are never any early morning jam sessions). All rooms have an ensuite bathroom with a Western style toilet and shower. The price includes the traditional Southeast Asia backpacker breakfast of banana pancakes.
