Tucked behind a popular little restaurant serving European and Indonesian fare, Bladok Losmen is an excellent option in the Sosrowijayan area for both budget and mid-priced rooms. Standard rooms come with a squat toilet and shower, while the more expensive rooms have Western toilets. If you want air-con, you'll have to splash out and get yourself a VIP room, which also come with a tv, hot water, private terrace and fridge. All other rooms have fans. Even the budget rooms at Bladok are clean and bright with large windows, and with Yogyakarta's year-round heat, the swimming pool is a very welcome facility. One word of caution — most rooms are up a very steep and narrow staircase that older travellers or those with mobility problems may find challenging... as will those with big heavy wheely suitcases.
