What we say: 
Quartered away in the northeast corner of Gili Trawagan, Alam Gili is an old-school resort offering family-friendly accommodation in a quiet-ish location. Rooms are mostly of a free-standing chalet variety, with large verandas (with mosquito-covered day bed), good-sized beds and even better sized well-designed bathrooms. There's a freeform well-shaded swimming pool on site, but, as long as the waters are calm, you're better off going to the beach just outside. There is a beachside restaurant but it is primarily a breakfast deal and you'll probably wander up and down the beach for some of the other options come lunch and dinner. Staff are friendly and accommodating though have a tendency to recommend solely Balinese-owned businesses elsewhere on the island (Alam is a Balinese chain, with hotels on Nusa Lembongan and a couple in Bali).
