payed 300 B for room without window but with fan and hot water. Ladies who run it are funny but you shouldn't be in a hurry if you want something to eat. They arrange private boats to Luang Prabang or tickets to the regular slowboat. Nothing special but fine for a night.
can do better at other places - ![]()

I stayed at BAP because when I was looking at the guidebook to decide where to stay in Huay Xai, this looked like the closest accommodation to the ferry pier from/to Thailand.
It turned out there are other guesthouses closer or as close to the pier and are cheaper (at BAP I was told the price for the double room was 60,000kip or 240 baht since I was coming from Laos. The woman said she charged 300 baht if a guest came from Thailand). Don’t stay here. The manager woman seemed like a money grabber, and I didn’t seem any humor in this woman or the other woman working here.
If you want travel information, you can just go to the travel agency across the street (maybe affiliated with BAP).
The price at the restaurant here seemed reasonable compared to other farang restaurants in town, though.

We had a really good time here. Our room on the ground floor was teak lined with a balcony out the back and a view of the river. It was clean and comfortable. The old duck in charge is worth the price just to watch her -- She is so funny and sarcastic! (But helpful and friendly at the same time.) The guest house is conveniently positioned near the cross river ferry. I can't help thinking that anyone who complains about the speed of service hasn't really got the point of visiting Laos yet!

It was okay. When we stayed there we met the lady in charge, and she was really nice. Although I can understand if not everybody likes her sarcastic humor, we found it an overall friendly place. She also helped us with getting tickets to the boat ride, and gave us her personal phone number in case we would come across any trouble while i Laos. The room was okay, nothing more, nothing less. Big clean bathroom with hot water shower. Very cold during the night, though.

Didn't stay here, just used the restaraunt, but have to say the service was the slowest I've ever come across,we were waiting about 15 minutes for the beer, and as for the food... Its ok when it arrives though.

Stayed in an upstairs room with private bathroom, clean enough but not spottless...fine for a night. Restauraunt served a lovely veg curry but all the food takes about an hour to arrive...be careful in the morning if your due to catch the boat. We found the staff (all sisters) really friendly.
