Hong Tha Xaysomboun Hotel

Rundown but clean old-style hotel

What we say

The Hong Tha is very different in style and size to any of the other guesthouses in the area. It comes across as an old-style hotel or country inn, and is very rundown. The grounds are large, lined by rows of rooms, and filled with unfinished mechanical projects. Rooms themselves are clean, most with a fan, and bright pink mosquito nets. Bathrooms are not quite so clean, with a squat toilet and hot or cold shower. Also available is one air-con room with hot water shower. There's a restaurant open for breakfast and other meals by prior arrangement. A small shop sells a very limited selection of handicrafts including silk weavings priced at $4-10 and Tai Dam shirts for 25,000 kip.
