Manychan Guesthouse
Basic but clean and decent

What we say:
It's difficult to see why the Manychan is so popular. Yes it is very well located, has a popular restaurant downstairs and throws free WiFi into the mix, but it lacks a bit of character compared to some of the better places in town and the prices are the same. Rooms are mostly clean, but aged and pretty well worn. Include hot water bathroom, TV and WiFi. We found the staff to be a bit hit and miss, but overall you could do far worse than here.

Fairly average
Situated on the main road in an old style house with the rooms are above the restaurant, we were a bit worried it would be noisy but we asked for a room on a high floor and it was fine. Â The rate for an a/c double with western toilet and temperamental hot water shower was 60,000 kip (not open to negotiation). The room was fine, pretty unremarkable but nothing to really complain about but it was frustrating not to have hot water as it was quite chilly in the mornings. If there hadn't been other options I would have been perfectly OK here but we moved after a night because we felt we could get better value for money elsewhere. The restaurant is popular and seems to be the busiest falang place in town even though there are other places offering similar fare for a lower price. It was a sociable atmosphere though which I guess is the draw.Â

Shouldn't have moved out
My first 2 choices were booked out so I stayed here 1 night until a room opened up at my first choice. I wish I had stayed now - the other place was more expensive with fewer facilities. My room had A/C, TV and a nice clean bathroom for 60000 kip. Hot water was OK, but a lot of it leaked out of the shower hose before it got to the spray - if I had stayed I would have asked for this to be fixed. There was a bit of noise from the kitchen in the morning, but not too bad. I would stay here again.

OK stay
Prices seem to have risen since last review. We paid 60000kip - maybe could have done better but they seemed pretty full. Rooms were we thought better than indicated in your review- TV, A/c hot water was fine and room was acceptably clean. pleasant enough tourist style restaurant downstairs.

OK...but...
OK guesthouse that is central and serves good Loa food in a popular resturant. The rooms are fine but but no hot water. Stayed 3 nights. First night no hot water, second night it went cold after 1 min, and third night no hot water. There are better places to stay in Luang nam Tha.
