Although the rooms are small and basic at Saikhonglongsack, they are extremely clean. All rooms are fan-cooled and have a bathroom with hot shower and squat toilet. The restaurant downstairs serves good Chinese food. Staff are also Chinese and speak only limited English and Lao, but communication regarding rooms and food is not a problem.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.

Tallest building in town - 13th June, 2005
No kidding, it is. Arriving after dark we got the last available penthouse on the third floor for US$4. Foggy views of rural sprawl gone wrong in the morning. Clean rooms, two bottles of water, soap and towels make up for the Asian toilet. There's extremely hot water showers on the ground floor, mainly used by the proprietors. Do watch out for the large ventilation holes at chest level. They double up as a brick sized peephole from the outside!
