Good price but grubby

What we say:

Tai Neua is on the main street, just up from the market. To get to the rooms you have to parade between the entire family and the television, and up a filthy stairway. The fan-cooled rooms are grubby but at least the sheets are nice and freshly washed. The bathroom has a western toilet and a hot shower, which is surprising at such a cheap price.

We stayed here .....

and the room was cheap - so it should have been. I'm no princess but I tossed and turned on an inadequate number of bed slats all night. The broken plastic ensuite door was see through. A bucket flush of the toilet was the best available. The hot water was non-existent. We loved it because it was cheap! We paid two bucks for it - one old woman laughed when we refused to stay at a nearby luxury resort for 5 bucks. I look back on it and laugh a lot as well. Great place for memories.
