Simple rooms with a Mekong view
What we say:
These rattan bungalows overlooking the meandering Mekong below have a great aspect and it's the best feature of the place. Choose from two types of rooms: double with private bathroom or twin with shared bathroom, but in all honesty you are extremely unlikely to be sharing it with anyone else except perhaps the owners' family members. All bathrooms are cold water squat affairs which could be brighter and cleaner. The beds are basic and the sheets threadbare, but you do get a mosquito net. At least you'll have a TV to watch overly-dramatic Thai soaps on. The attached restaurant is your best bet for food in town and the dock is nearby – a short two-minute stroll down the hill.
Contact details:When exiting the boat ramp, head right..

clean room, but...
A chinese family seems to have taken over the hotel. They use half of the rooms for themselves and rent the rest (2 rooms) to the foreigners who dare to come to Xieng Kok. The space around the house is used as rubbish dump, which doesn't really make the hotel (and the balcony) a nice place to stay. The room was small but more or less clean, the bathroom was very dirty and more than basic. If going to Xieng Kok, try one of the other guesthouses, they won't be booked out - for sure!
