Khemkhong Guesthouse
Simple rooms with a Mekong view
Near the boat landing
Luang Nam Tha Province
Tel: no telephone
Description
Khemkhong Guesthouse is right near the boat landing, and a common spot for the bus to drop off passengers. It's one of the two best options for visitors, and although rooms are simple, they are clean and pleasant. Walls are made of rattan and rooms have some furniture and a mosquito net but no fan. Some rooms have a private bathroom and these are quite clean and light with a squat toilet and cold bucket shower. Electricity is provided by generator and is only available between 6pm and about 9pm. A small balcony with rattan furniture makes a pleasant spot where you can sit and watch the Mekong flow. Above the rooms there is a restaurant with good, cheap meals.

Saitong Guesthouse
Xieng Kok
There's no signage to indicate that Saitong is a guesthouse. In fact it's a house behind a noodle soup restaurant that has been converted to take guests. Rooms are very basic and while they're not dirty, they're certainly not anything special. The guesthouse seems to cater generally to Chinese... more
Kokbohan Guesthouse
Xieng Kok
This small guesthouse is down a steep step of dirt steps and across a small wooden bridge from the main road. A collection of shabby rattan bungalows, only some are used as guesthouse rooms. These are basic, but pretty clean with a mosquito net and no electricity so after the sun sets, the candles... more
Onkeo Guesthouse
Xieng Kok
Onkeo doesn't get many visitors staying in its relatively clean, but not particularly nice rooms. The mosquito nets are falling down, the rooms are in disrepair and rain has flooded some rooms. Private bathrooms have a squat toilet and cold... more
