Somjith Guesthouse

Clean rooms, quiet area

The top floor at the friendly Somjith is constructed of highly polished wood, and the walls between rooms are nicely done with woven rattan. Sound carries, but otherwise the rooms are lovely with a fan, clean sheets and private bathrooms that are quite clean with a hot shower and Western toilet. Downstairs is concrete -- which translates into less neighbour noise -- with the tiled rooms here also clean but less atmospheric. Some rooms do not have a private bathroom. Upstairs, two rooms share one large bathroom with hot shower and Western toilet, while downstairs a small bathroom is dedicated to only one room. Upgrades have made air-con rooms an option. A large but unfurnished balcony upstairs has a view over the street in this quiet neighbourhood and the downstairs shared patio makes for a good place to hang out.

Nice neighbourhood - 3rd January, 2010
Stayed here for a few days early December at which time paid 120000kip for a double in upstairs part of the ''new'' section. Everything was fine clean room , soft(ish) bed, shower worked fine .We had TV and aircon although both not really necessary. Balcony looks over pleasant garden setting, you're on a quiet lane and still only a minute walk from the mekong

Nice clean rooms - 27th February, 2007
We stayed ere in Feb 07 and were initially given a double rooms downstairs for 800BHT. Nice and clean, with a big bed and soft duvet - we had a great sleep here. We then changed to a better room upstairs with a balcony for the same price. Same big bed and clean sheets. The toilet isnt attached but is clean with a warm-ish shower. The prices seem to havew gone up now - 800BHT for a shared bathroom and 1000BHT for a private but we'd definately stay here again.

Two times a good choice - 14th December, 2006
Somjtih offers different rooms in a very clean house. This year, 2006, we had the smaller one of the rooms with balcony in the first floor. It has a bathroom outside, sharing with three other rooms The walls of the two rooms at the balcony are concrete, you will not be disturbed by other guests. The bathroom is ok, everthing is clean and working. The room costs 60.000 Kip. Last year, Nov. 2005, we had a room in the first floor with attached bathroom for also 60.000 Kip. The walls were made out of bamboo, which carries the sound from the neighbours. Also not a bad choice. The family is absolutely friendly and helpful. After looking several guesthouses in the area again the best value for the money.
