Description
A young family runs this lovely guesthouse just outside Luang Prabang. A collection of private bungalows, set on a small farm and surrounded by rice fields, it's a peaceful place to relax. Both husband and wife speak great English, and the kids are cheeky. They serve meals on site, and organise treks through the local mountains, staying in ethnic villages. These have a maximum of 6-7 people and can be tailored to fit the needs of the trekkers. Wooden bungalows are clean and large. They have a small balcony, a few simple furnishings and a bathroom with hot shower and western toilet. Prices include breakfast. They also grow their own vegetables, and have an orchard of avocado trees. Perfect for an out of town getaway, this place is more charming than ever.

We also had a great stay with Khun and Con. Khun knows the area very well and loves to guide guests to remote villages and through the jungle (for a very reasonable price). His English is good and he´s a very funny and friendly guy. One evening the family invited us and the three other guests for a fabulous Lao barbecue in the garden.

We arrived at Khun and Con's at the beginning of January for 2 nights are still there 3 weeks later. I agree with all the previous comments and Con's cooking is very good. Their phone number is 020 7707665 - if you can't get through the first time keep trying as the phone reception is not always too good.

This is a truely delighful place to stay - and reasonably priced. The bungalows are simple but comfortable and the food is delicious. A little bit out of town but easily accessible. Khoun was brought up in Luang Prabang and is a great treking guide. Khone is a superb cook who can do Lao food or western if you prefer. Be sure to get a ride in their Jeep!

Two new bungalows have been added making a total of 6 plus the house. A kitchen and reception area have been added. This is a remarkable place certainly out of the hubub of the town centre but easily accessible. The food is good. The service is very accomodating. Highly recommended for those who want some country quiet.

Sayo Guesthouse
Luang Prabang town
Sayo's few rooms are often full, particularly in the high season. It's no surprise, as they are lovely. An old French colonial building, Sayo is in the old quarter of town, and a lot of effort has been taken to decorate it in an appropriate style, with classically simple and unfussy pieces of... more

Clean and simple, the Rama Hotel offers probably the best value for money in Luang Prabang. The only drawback is that the beds are like concrete. Rooms... more

Rattana is in a lovely, quiet area filled with a mix of guesthouses and private homes, but is still only a couple of minutes walk to the main centres of town. The newly-built part of the building is in Lao-French colonial style. The smaller rooms are very clean, fan-cooled with a private bathroom... more
