Considered by many to be Luang Prabang's premier hotel, La Residence Phou Vao's reputation is well deserved. The luxurious tropical atmosphere is all open spaces and feng shui flow from the reception down to the infinity pool which looks back over Luang Prabang. Their luxurious health spa boasts a lemongrass infused sauna, massage salas and spa pool. Lavish rooms are fully equipped with TV, extensive minibar and bathtub. Beds are adorned in crisp whites and local textiles, which contrast beautifully with the rich wood floors. Whimsical and airy canopies hang from the ceilings and furnishings are elegantly sparse. Balconies boast a chaise lounge allowing guests to recline and enjoy the spectacular view. Even if you don't stay, the beautiful bar and restaurant are a decadent treat. As La Residence is a bit off the main drag, they offer free shuttle service to and from town several times daily stopping just across from the post office. Beautiful - 1st August, 2006
We didn't stay, but had a browse around for future reference. The pool is gorgeous, the staff polite and the decor sublime - I'd say it was well worth the spend!
