In a quiet area that remains largely residential, Khounsavan's most redeeming quality is its low price. The building looks attractive with a wide staircase leading to the second floor, but rooms are neglected and the décor leaves much to be desired. Beds sag in the middle, bedspreads are fuzzy things with garish floral prints, and cleanliness doesn't appear to be a top priority. It's worth shelling out the extra kip for an attached bathroom. The owners live on site but aren't particularly helpful unless you want to buy beer from the small restaurant. If you're not fussy you'll be fine here, but there are better alternatives.
