Tucked away in an overgrown garden, Satri House is perfect for those looking for a little solitude and peace. Common areas are quiet with a colonial charm that extends into the cool and cavernous rooms. The canopy beds, Buddha statues, and high-beamed ceilings evoke a mysterious vibe and the massive stone tubs in the bathrooms are ideal for a long soak. Be warned however that since renovations began in 2008, reviews have been mixed. Guests have complained of noisy construction, uncaring staff, and unclean rooms -- none of which are acceptable with this sort of price tag attached. Still, Satri House is a truly beautiful property.

Old World Charm (ish)

Nice out of town location, lovely building, but most importantly good plumbing...which kind of almost made up for the building work since I was sick the whole time in LP. Guests were complaining left right and centre, I tried to suggest perhaps having the builders start after 10.00am NOT whilst everyone was eating breakfast at 0800. No recompense was offered or made, not even a free bike ride! No Lao breakfast just standard how ever you like it egg and delicious tomato jam. Yes per previous review..rooster is annoying but this is SE Asia. The monks also drum at 0400. Stay here after the building work is finished and you will probably love it but now not a good time.
