Spicy Laos
Great backpacker vibe

What we say:
Opened in 2008, Spicy Laos is the only true hostel in Luang Prabang. It's a dorm-only affair and the prices here are incredibly cheap for Luang Prabang. Cleanliness leaves something to be desired, but no one seems to mind. Other spaces in this heritage house have been converted into a movie room, computer lounge and lots of common areas to chill out with a Beerlao. You're guaranteed to meet people and a message board is littered with activity sign-up sheets. It's one of the few places in town that has a true backpacker vibe. If you're travelling as a couple, you might be better off finding a budget private room elsewhere as the price of two dorm beds is almost as much as many budget rooms in town.

Perfect LP backpacker
Wonderful place to say and meet people. Facilities were top notch for the price paid. Only warning...if you are super security minded, and creeped out by the lack of locked gates and doors...or the lack of doors for that matter, than maybe not the best place for you. But this is Laos after all, and you do get a locker, so relax.

Nice vibe
Spicy Laos (much like Spicy Thai in Chiang Mai) has a great vibe and there's always someone to talk to or hang out with. The dorm room I stayed in had a fan only and was a little too warm, but otherwise it's ok. There is free coffee, tea, water, bananas, bread and jam for breakfast on the cosy verandah out front. All services you'd expect from a backpackers are catered for and are cheap or free - travel desk, in house tuk-tuk, free internet & wifi, cheap washing, cinema room (although I neglected to check it out). Overall this is a great place to meet other travellers, an easy walk to the night market and main bars/restaurants area, and a good place to stay if you're looking for a hostel.
