In a big brown wooden house right on the banks of the Mekong, Boungnasouk is one of the few remaining budget spots with a river view. Rooms aren't nearly as luxurious as at the adjacent boutique spots, but the fan-cooled rooms are bright, cosy and a fraction of the price. Each of the six rooms, three doubles and three twins, has an attached bathroom with hot shower and are kept pretty clean. The house has a lot of character and the family who run Boungnasouk, as well as the attached riverside restaurant, are a friendly and welcoming lot.
