What we say:

This is another traditional Lao-style house converted into a guesthouse, except Paphai hasn't been renovated and offers only basic accommodation. Rooms are small and fan-cooled with simple furniture and firm beds. Shared bathrooms have hot showers and Western-style toilets. The walls are made of bamboo so every noise carries, including the critters scurrying about in the roof. Nonetheless it's charmingly authentic with a great location and lovely garden. A highlight is sitting on the steps at 16:00 while the novice monks at the wat across the street play a percussive herald to the moon's cycles. A good cheap option right in the centre of town.

simple basic rooms

The guesthouse is nice, rooms are pretty basic, for the price it's decent, though you could find better options in Luang Prabang maybe for a little more. The location is great, though right by the wat, not only do monks have drum sessions in the afternoon... also in the morning at around 5 am. So could be cool/annoying depending on what you're into.
