Sala Prabang
Elegant rooms in a colonial building

What we say:
Located just across the road from the Mekong in a fantastic heritage building, Sala Prabang oozes charm from the very moment you enter the fabulous lobby, which still retains its original tiled floor. This hotel is popular with luxury tours which is a testament to the quality on offer. Don't come expecting a TV, but free WiFi is offered. Facilities include air-con, safety deposit box, large Western bathroom which could do with an update and big comfortable beds. Despite the cost of this place, it is a good option due to the uniqueness of the rooms and the ambience which the entire hotel exudes.

Perfect Location
Space really wasn't an issue as we were sleeping in the room, not running a seminar... We had a room on first floor with balcony and thought it was perfect. Staff great and setting is the best in town. There are other decent places on the Nam Khan, but in May, the Mekong was a glorious sight from the hotel, while the Nam Khan had all but disappeared. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

good location
A good location and friendly staff. We had an upstairs balcony room with a view of the Mekong that was excellent for watching people and sipping on a Beer Lao or two. Reasonably comfortable but compact with little space to put your stuff. Excellent shower! Breakfast was good. We only stayed 2 nights then moved to much superior Apsara (which was 5 US cheaper).

Redecorating
We made reservations at Sala Prabang, unfortunately they closed the largest part of the hotel and there were no rooms available when we arrived. They where very friendly and apologetic about it and had arranged alternative rooms in another hotel, Le Calao Inn, and Sala Prabang paid the price difference for the rooms.

Fantastic view of the Mekong
This is a classy, atmospheric hotel. If you pay to stay in the side wing with a view of the river you won't be disappointed. Funky and modern & luxurious.Great staff & location. Only drawback was the SUPER firm bed (translate to ''rock hard'').
