Sala Prabang

Elegant rooms in a colonial building

What we say: 4 stars

Located just across the road from the Mekong in a fantastic heritage building, Sala Prabang oozes charm from the very moment you enter the fabulous lobby, which still retains its original tiled floor. The hotel’s 49 rooms are actually spread out over eight buildings and therefore, this hotel is popular with luxury tours because it can accommodate so many at once. But as an independent traveller, one bone of contention is that the rooms in the different buildings are all quite different in terms of size and configuration – if you are picky ask to see several rooms before deciding. But all rooms do include air-con, safety deposit box, large Western bathroom which could do with an update, big comfortable beds and tasteful decor. Breakfast is included in the rate. Despite the cost of this place, it is a good option due to the beauty of the rooms, location and the ambience the entire hotel exudes.
