KaiKeo Bungalows and Restaurant
Quiet spot with views to boast about

What we say:
A good hike east of the boat landing, KaiKeo is tucked away on the riverbank. Newer bungalows are built from hardwood and have attached bathrooms that still sparkle, while older bamboo bungalows share rustic facilities with squat toilets. There's no hot water, but in the cool season the kind owners will boil some over a fire. The views from here of the river and the mountains are breath-taking and you'll likely have them all to yourself. The downside is that it's a bit of a walk to town which you'll need to do a few times each day as there's no on-site restaurant. It's a great choice if you like a little isolation, but there are bungalows in town that far surpass these in comfort.

gorgeous views, loud roosters
The good stuff: amazing views, a hammock on each bungalow porch, friendly family, water heated over the fire every afternoon for bathing (for a small charge) The bad stuff: uncomfortable bed, uncomfortable pillows, roosters that don't even wait until dawn to start crowing

small bungalows
There are three bungalows, one standing alone with wonderful view, which was unfortunately booked, when we were there, and two others, quite small with not so good views. The bathroom is spacious and clean. They serve meals on demand, the family is friendly.
