Great mountain and river views
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
Luang Prabang Province

Description
Relax on the riverside at the end of the street, says the sign at the entrance to KaiKeo Bungalows. Views are terrific, and hammocks on the large balconies are perfect for relaxing and enjoying them. Standard bamboo bungalows are a little dark but are otherwise clean and sizeable. The shared bathroom is also spacious, with a squat toilet, cold shower and concrete floor that doesn't show the dirt. They serve food on the great balcony, but only when there are guests staying.

Total rooms: 4

Bungalow fan share b'room
2 USD (low season) 2 USD (high season)

gorgeous views, loud roosters - No rating given
By bethmitchell ( total comments: 16  More information please ) Stayed here 12/2007
The good stuff: amazing views, a hammock on each bungalow porch, friendly family, water heated over the fire every afternoon for bathing (for a small charge)

The bad stuff: uncomfortable bed, uncomfortable pillows, roosters that don't even wait until dawn to start crowing

small bungalows -

There are three bungalows, one standing alone with wonderful view, which was unfortunately booked, when we were there, and two others, quite small with not so good views. The bathroom is spacious and clean. They serve meals on demand, the family is friendly.

Banana Cafe Guesthouse
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
The best of the very basic, Banana Cafe has a choice of individual bungalows or adjoined bamboo rooms overlooking the river, although the view is slightly obscured by banana palms and other foliage. Bungalows are among the cleanest in Muang Ngoi, a generous size, and with clean bed sheets. The... more

Lattanavongsa Guesthouse
At the boat pier, Muang Ngoi
Right at the boat pier, this guesthouse is guaranteed business for two reasons other than convenience: firstly, its restaurant is the perfect waiting place for transport in either direction up or down river. Secondly, and most importantly, it is currently the only guesthouse in town that has rooms... more

SaiNamNgoi Bungalows
Looking over the Nam Ngoi River
SaiNamNgoi has the same basic bamboo bungalows as all the other guesthouses in Muang Ngoi, although beds have no quilt cover. The shared bathroom is large and clean, with a cold shower and squat toilet. One major advantage here is SaiNamNgoi is easily the best location in Muang Ngoi -- and that's... more

Bamboo Family Guesthouse
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
By the river with great views, Bamboo Family Bungalows is a small guesthouse that is looking to upgrade in the near future. Their shared bathroom is currently pretty grotty, but they are planning a larger, cleaner model with shower and western-style toilet. Otherwise, bungalows are pretty standard,... more

Ning Ning Guesthouse
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
Following in the footsteps of Lattanavongsa Guesthouse, Ning Ning is moving away from the standard bamboo bungalow by the river (of which it has a handful) and has added a block of adjoined rooms all with private bathroom and cold... more

Sunset Bungalow
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
The perfect view of the sun setting between the two mountains across the river has given Sunset its name. A seating area overlooking the river has a table and chairs but no hammocks, and while it isn't really a restaurant, when there are guests they will prepare food from the varied menu on... more

Boupha Guesthouse
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
High on stilts looking out over the river, bungalows at Boupha look a little rickety and neglected. Inside, the huts are small but clean, with a mosquito net, and beds with no quilt cover. Balconies have a table, chairs and hammock for enjoying the view. The shared bathroom is a bit basic, and... more

Phetdavanh Guesthouse
Off the river, Muang Ngoi
Just recently opened, Phetdavanh is much more in the style of guesthouses in other small Lao towns than the Muang Ngoi tradition. A radical departure from the basic bamboo bungalow, rooms are all in one large concrete building. Still with shared bathroom facilities and cold showers, the rooms are... more

Shanti Guesthouse
Overlooking the river, Muang Ngoi
With such splendid views all along the river, it's hard to go wrong with a basic bamboo bungalow, but Shanti's are among the shabbiest in Muang Ngoi. Rooms are smallish and dark, and not the cleanest, while balconies are blessed with hammocks for taking in the view. The shared bathroom is small and... more
