The easy to miss Sensaly is run by a lovely family. Just as you turn the corner (from the bus station end of town) on the main road running through town, the Sensaly is on your right. There is a small compound with a few trees. The entrance is their house, and access to the separate guesthouse buildings is via their open kitchen. Rooms are simple, smallish and homely but clean, with a mosquito net and tiny bathroom with squat toilet and cold bucket wash. Every night, the family will bring a thermos of hot water which can be used to make tea with the supplies provided in the room or to warm up your shower. A shared front balcony looks over Phongsali, while the back windows look out over mountains. It has a really comforting atmosphere, even though it's not the best in town.

The place 2B in Phongsali - 21st January, 2010
We moved here after one night in Vipaphone. This is much, much better: Lao, friendly, clean and there IS hot water in the bathrooms (much needed as the weather was chilly and damp.)

Sensaly Guesthouse reviewed by penny101 on 21st January, 2010, rated 4 out of 5.
