Yuhoua Guesthouse and Restaurant

What we say: 
A Chinese family-run place, the restaurant and family home occupy the ground floor, while the guesthouse is upstairs. Rooms are small and simple but are clean, with fresh white bedding. They come in different sizes, ranging from no-cat-swinging to plenty of space for furniture. Some have a private bathroom with squat toilet and hot shower, others have shared facilities with cold water showers and buckets and squat toilets. The good thing about the shared facilities is that there are two lots of them shared between four or five rooms which are rarely occupied, but a cold shower in the cool air of Phongsali might be a bit much for some. The restaurant downstairs serves reasonable food, but there are better options in town if you can be bothered moving on from your guesthouse. Service here can be a bit sluggish; the staff do serve you, but you might have to inject a bit of adrenalin to get them to the point of alertness.
