Sarika Guesthouse
One of the better choices in town

What we say:
Formerly known as Villa Salika, Sarika Guesthouse is the first guesthouse you'll meet on the right as you make your way up the hill from the boat dock. It's a big old white building with a mix of tiled and wooden-floored rooms which are pretty good for the price. Clean hot water bathrooms, saggy spring beds and a couple of scraps of furniture all make an appearance and for most people it will be enough for a night and perhaps better than many others in town. As with other places, ask for a discount if it's not busy.

Great value, but basic
Just up the hill from the boat pier, this place is well positioned. The fan rooms are very basic but clean and come with an attached bathroom. We got the room for the bargain price of 40,000 kip - our cheapest room so far on our travels. The views from the balcony are amazing!

Awful breakfast service
Room was ok, a good size and seemed clean. Staff were not so good, and dragged when it came to breakfast the next morning. Overall impression was of being quite overpriced, but considering the relative lack of choice not a bad option.

Good standard rooms
There might be an error in the room rates since my double room at Villa Salika was 70,000 kips (US$7). The view is excellent, rooms are clean but I was disappointed by the restaurant's food: it was very toned down to falang taste. Maybe I didn't pick the right dishes... Breakfast was good however and we could order sandwiches the night before, quite handy for the boat trip.
