Saliga Jian Jiang Hotel
Rooms with bathroom are OK
Tel: (081) 312 468
Description
Despite the squalid entrance, rooms with a private bathroom at this very Chinese hotel are not too bad. They are clean, with clean sheets, fan and a hot shower with squat toilet in the bathroom. Some rooms have TV, but only with Chinese-language channels. Rooms without bathrooms are also quite clean and basic, but the shared toilets are absolutely filthy, with Chinese-style squats. The daughter of the house is a friendly young girl who speaks good English.

New Chinese Moneyed Hotel - No rating given

Walking past the SJJ hotel, I thought this was something new, but it was hollowed out, covered in cement dust and frowning construction workers. So I guess something new's coming, or already has. 500m SW on the main road, we rode into the Oudomkhan Hotel, 3 floors of relativel luxury. Huge parking lot, huge lobby, huge timbered stairways, huge rooms with AC, cable TV, white sheets, wardrobe, stained plastic 'glass' bathroom doors for Kip 130,000/24 hrs (USD13)
as typed in by the 10 yr old receptionist on her new Nokia. 2 complimentary bottles of iced water after checking out and only if you're cycling the 117 kms to Luang Namtha
