Kou Kham Guesthouse is on the main road through Phonsavan and has tile and concrete rooms painted an apricot colour, with a few apricot frills added for good measure. The rooms are on the upper floor, the ground floor being a mix-match of chairs, TVs and assorted furniture. The exterior has a slightly fading look and an off-white paint job but the rooms are clean and are maintained to a high standard, although they won't win any design awards. The beds are rock hard and the shower leaks a little, but this is one of the best options in Phonsavan, within the standard 100,000 kip price.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.
