Dok Champa 2
A bit dingy but cheap

What we say:
Like it's sister establishment, the Dok Champa 1, this place has rooms with cement floors and dingy cold-water bathrooms. Crappy, but we would say acceptable, if you're an adaptable traveller looking to save money. Some of the rooms are triples for the same flat rate, so groups of three can make out like bandits. The riverside restaurant here is popular with locals, and the food is quite good -- try the Korean-style barbecue.

Complete Renovation?
I didn't stay here, but when I stopped by in January 2010 it looked like the place was undergoing a complete renovation. The crappy rooms described above were being replaced by more stylish bungalows, most likely to attract the tour groups that pass through the city. Give it a look, but don't count on finding a cheap (or crappy) room like in the old days.
