Description
The Souchitra Guest House has a good mix of budget and upmarket accommodation. The rooms are clean and new -- it's a well serviced complex. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which is a good spot for breakfast as it sits right beside the river, though is not owned by the guesthouse. Recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were happy with our choice. Great location, clean basic room. Rented bicycles here for a trip to Don Deng Island.

We stayed here at about three nights in an very old room on the first floor next to the big wooden veranda overlooking the mekong. Lots of caracter here ! They also have new bungalows with aircon and private bathroom here. The family working here is nice and friendly !We tried to rent motorbikes here, but he wanted to give us motorbikes with no profile on the tyres left, really dangerous on the lao roads, but anyway his intentions were really really friendly and okay ! Paul and Jeroen, Amsterdam.

A Good Choice for Accomodation -

This place had very nice rooms and the price was right. It was more expensive than listed above but not by much. The only drawback is that the food in the restaurant isn't all that great but there aren't so many options in town so do your best.

Anouxsa Guesthouse
1km north of the roundabout
A selection of stand-alone wooden/bamboo and adjoining concrete bungalows either air-con or fan-cooled are available at Anouxsa. All are in spotless nick and the concrete bungalows are particularly spacious with verandas, suitable for sprawling on during steamy afternoons overlooking the river.... more

Vong Pasued Guest House
Around 400m south of the roundabout
This very friendly, family-run spot has a bunch of cheap rooms in a longhouse. Rooms are very basic, though they all have private bathrooms -- the cheapest ones have squat toilets and no hot water. The food here gets very good reports. You can eat in the restaurant by the road, or behind the... more

Khamphouy Guest House
80m south of the roundabout, on the western side
This has excellent bamboo bungalows with concrete floors that would be close to the pick in town if they were on the riverbank. Set on the other side of the main road, there is little to observe from your room aside from the steady stream of ducks and geese that make up most of Champasak's traffic.... more

Dok Champa 1
South of the traffic circle, on the inland side, Champasak
The floors and walls of the sort-of-spacious rooms here are concrete, and there's not much furniture aside from the beds. Overall this place is rather grotty and basic, and the bathrooms are slightly scary, but still, we know some of you will head straight here when you see the... more

Saythong Guest House
65m south of the roundabout
This is a popular choice, in a good location, with a fine restaurant on site. Nevertheless, the room we saw was pretty shabby, albeit airy, with a sort of crappy bathroom. Some of the staff speak English well. Bicycles can be hired here and chartered boats to Pakse and Don Khong can also be... more

Khaemkhong Guest House
Ban Wat That, 3km from the roundabout, enroute to Wat Phu
On our last visit we found this place deteriorating badly, and the physical appearance of the place is still pretty shabby. The thatched bamboo bungalows are still there, with their sticky doors, cruddy bathrooms, and peeling fake linoleum floors. However, the management are making an effort:... more

Boulivan Guest House
2.5km south of the roundabout
Like it's neighbour the Khaemkhong down the road, this place doubles as a brothel. It's an absolute crap pile -- a shabby exterior, cramped rooms with squat toilets, and a staff that's out of a Lao version of the movie Deliverance. The only reason we can think of to head out here is if every single... more

Dok Champa 2
North of the traffic circle, riverside
Like it's sister establishment, the Dok Champa 1, this place has rooms with cement floors and dingy cold-water bathrooms. Crappy, but we would say acceptable, if you're an adaptable traveller looking to save money. Some of the rooms are triples for the same flat rate, so groups of three can make... more
