Vong Pasued Guest House
What we say:
The most southerly of the guesthouses worth staying in, Vongpaseud is a quaint guesthouse at the back of a typically ramshackle shopfront and family home. The cheapest rooms are of wooden construction and come with fan, hot water and Western toilet. They're charming and a steal at this price. The pricier air-con rooms shun the charm and are made of concrete. Despite the air-con, we think they're inferior to the wooden rooms. There's a nice communal balcony/restaurant on the river which is perfect for a beer. Free WiFi is available, making this a fantastic deal for budget travellers.

Good Budget Choice
Vong Prasert had basic, clean rooms with attached bath for 30,000 kip and cold water or 40,000 kip and hot water. There is a nice patio restaurant with excellent views overlooking the river. They have bicycles and motorbikes for rent. Friendly staff and a good chance to practice your french with the helpful owner. Probably the best budget option on the river.

Basic room but clean and cheap-we paid $3 for a double. Nice simple restaurant to have a beer overlooking the river. Friendly owner. It fit our needs and would stay there again. Can easily walk to restaurants.

We checked out a couple of places in Champasak but as they were all pretty bad (we were hoping for flashpacker not backpacker), we went with Vong Pasued. Picked us up from ferry (to try and get everyone to stay at his place but he doesn't care if you don't). Our room was clean but pretty basic - he's just organised a new food menu for the restaurant which sounds great. He is super friendly and very very helpful.
