Dok Champa 1
Basic bungalows

What we say:
The floors and walls of the sort-of-spacious rooms here are concrete, and there's not much furniture aside from the beds. Overall this place is rather grotty and basic, and the bathrooms are slightly scary, but still, we know some of you will head straight here when you see the price.

There is a brand new, multi-storey Dog Champa Hotel/Motor Lodge-style building under construction right next door to the old Dog Champa 1 Guesthouse, in the lot between the former guesthouse and the Lao Development Bank. By the look of things, it seems it will be open fairly soon, with the old guesthouse currently being used as lodging for the construction workers (at least as of Jan 2010). Both the Dogs have gone upmarket, so best not to plan on a cheap room here any more.
