Super chilled out sunset spot
Don Dhet
Champasak Province
Tel: (020) 573 0137
Description
This very chilled out place does outstanding coconut shakes but gets the full brunt of the setting sun -- you could dry your washing here in about 45 minutes in the afternoon, so don't forget the shades. Popular with those undertaking longer stays. The huts are reasonable, though only half the restaurant has a roof, so hope for no rain.

Souksan Hotel
Don Dhet
With the flashest digs in Don Dhet, this is the closest thing you'll get to luxury on the island. The high priced rooms here are clearly designed to switch to air-con, if and when electricity reaches here. The well sized rooms, while being among the cleanest on the island, are somewhat staid and... more
Mr B. Sunset Bungalows
Don Dhet
Ideally placed just to the left of Miss Noy's, we've watched the long-running Mr B.Sunset go through some pretty substantial renovations, switching from bamboo to wood bungalows. But although they are in a superb sunset position (this isn't called Mr B. Sunset for nothing) the new digs don't have... more
Mrs. Noy's
Don Dhet
Just up the trail that runs behind Souksan, Miss Noy's is one of the favourite sunset spots on the island with a regular throng of people who pile into their well-placed hammocks -- for a beer or a toke an hour before sunset -- and then disappear straight after. If you plan on staying for the... more
Thon Don Family Easy Living
Don Dhet
Ok, so the name may not roll off the tongue, but this very friendly and long-running place is certainly worth considering. Your Lao-educated, English-speaking, Khmer host, Somsai, is a chatty guy and a fine host, the shakes are succulent and the beers ice cold. The wooden huts are very solid and... more
Tenas Bungalows and Restaurant
Don Dhet
Just south of Thon Don Family, this spot has identical thatch bungalows and a more spacious restaurant than Thon Don. All huts have share bathroom and the sunset is thrown in for free. A very sleepy... more
