What we say:

Just to the south of the main boat landing, Vixay has a mix of bamboo and wooden huts, most of which are, unfortunately tin-roofed. This, combined with the largely shadeless grounds. can create a real wake-and-bake environment. Vixay runs into Khamphong just to the south and there is little to distinguish the two. They also have seven rooms on the sunset side for the same price -- two of which are in a nice and private location right on the water -- last place along the western road, in a romantic little spot.

Check out the sunrise side

This should really be listed on the sunset side as the operation has expanded to include 4 riverside bungalows, a restaurant, easy access to the best swimming spot on the island, and a wonderful family that is very welcoming to sit and hang out with. The owner also runs a boat operation and can speak some English. As well as the riverside, they have other bungalows set back by their house - and though the shared baths are not the cleanest and squat only, the location is excellent though on an opening up of the Mekong and the beds are very big and comfortable.
