Description
When we say you can stay as cheaply on Don Khon as you can in Don Dhet, this is what we're talking about. Set on both sides of the pathway just to the west of Sala Don Khone, Bounphan Riverside has two thatch bungalows with share bathroom on the riverbank and nicely solid wooden bungalows with private bathroom off the river. Although the restaurant location is poor, this remains one of the best budget locations on Don Khon.

We stayed at Bounphan for 4 nights. They are the sweetest family, and we had a great little hut perched over the river. It is rustic but they keep it extremely clean, and we feel so much at home. I highly recommend it. We paid $2/night and they also rent out bikes and book the outgoing travel to other points (we booked our cross-border to Cambodia with them and they set it up for us very seamlessly).
