Auberge Sala Done Khong

Flashest digs in town

These are the flashest digs in town. Auberge Sala Done Khong has some lovely upstairs rooms in a twin set of wooden houses, 100m or so from the town centre. Some of the larger rooms have private ante-rooms, and there are a couple of very comfortable veranda areas to relax in. The enticing restaurant downstairs is unfortunately only open for guests. Very popular with tour groups, the hotel has pleasant gardens and a colonial feel. All rooms are air-con with hot water showers.

Stayed next door... Senesothxeun Hotel - 1st September, 2009
We went to check out this hotel and found it very old. We stayed next door at the really nice Senesothxeun Hotel. It wasn't listed on any travel sites. It was built in '07. Its new, super nice and the staff is friendly. Right on the river, great views. Get a room on the 2nd floor/ We bargained hard for a better rate because there was noone there. Restaurant is over priced, go to the other restaurants nearby... Reccomended

food here is AMAZING - 16th January, 2009
really enjoyed our stay here, friendly staff, great room, excellent food! Amazing sunrises over the Mekong. We had a quiet, romantic dinner one night out on the lawn under the sala, very nice indeed...they arranged a boat trip to Don Khone where we spent the day walking around and relaxing at Li Phi falls--amazing. Glad we chose Don Khong to stay though, as Khone was very crowded and bustling--the quiet, understated feel of Don Khong was much more our speed.
