Keep on walking

What we say:
This place is a kilometre from the boat landing and most of the other guesthouses and restaurants adjacent to it. We found the staff here pretty surly -- their focus seems to be geared more towards Asian tourists than western travellers, and their small riverside restaurant across the street was oddly unwelcoming. Most of the rooms are in a big house in the back, way off the river, and in two smaller long houses facing each other, one of which was still under construction on our visit. It's pretty much avoidable on all counts: location, atmosphere, service and price.

Clean & functional but expensive
Stayed over a festival weekend when the Champasak regional dragon boat championships were on, so Don Khong was heaving! This was the only place with space for me, my partner and our 6 year old boy. It was clean, quiet, staff were ok, largely Laos guests the weekend we were there. It was however probably $10 too expensive for what we got. Would pick somewhere else next time round.
