Narin Thachalern Hotel
Spotless

What we say:
This spotless shopfront in a central location has a handful of rooms which are all very spacious and are well looked after. While the shared bathroom rooms are overpriced, the others are fair value. Friendly, English-speaking manager.

Good, but better deals elsewhere
This place was pretty nice with aircon, tv and comfy beds, but for the 100,000 kip they now charge for a windowless double it seems expensive for what it is. We had friends stay at the Salachampa for the same price which seemed much nicer.

Felt Like Home
Narin Thachalern is a comfortable, popular spot just two short blocks from the main independent traveller area in Pakse. I paid 60,000 kip in January 2010 for a bright single fan room with attached hot water bath, cable TV, clothes rack for in-room laundry, soap, towel, drinking water, etc. Similar doubles were 80,000 kip. The staff was joyless but efficient, and there is a small sitting area downstairs for reading or enjoying a Beer Lao or such. I stayed a total of three nights and it really did feel like home. Recommended.

Friendly Helpful Staff
Even at 3AM when a pipe broke in our bathroom the staff were helpful. Water came shooting out so far it was almost shooting right out the bathroom door. The young man who helped solve the problem got completely soaked but did temporarily solve the problem for us. Rooms are clean if a bit bland and the staff were very helpful with travel info beyond their own tours.
