Description
The Say Kham Guest House is the second-to-last place to stay along the main road from Pakse as you approach Salavan. Less English is spoken than at the Silsamay, and the rooms are about on an equal par in terms of price and quality -- but in the highly-unlikely event that the Silsamay is completely booked, it's not a bad option. It's not particularly tourist-orientated but, we suspect, is more geared towards the trickle of business travellers that find themselves in Salavan. A restaurant/karaoke bar was under construction on site here when we re-visited, confirming our suspicions.

Chindavone Guest House
Central Salavan, along the main road
Next door to Thippaphone, the Chindavone Guest House is quiet popular with travelling salespeople and the occasional NGO group that sweep through town. Bright and fairly airy rooms are the main draw-card here, with tile floors, private baths, air-con and TVs standard in all rooms.... more
Silsamay Guest House 2
Near the bus station on the road to Pakse
This is the last of the travel-lodge-style places along the road from Pakse, located about 700m from downtown Salavan, but it's conveniently located near the bus station if all you want to do it get the hell out of Dodge. The cheerful white building with blue trim is nicer on the outside than the... more
Thipphapone Guesthouse
Central Salavan, along the main road.
The centrally-located Thipphapone has typical budget rooms -- the second floor fan rooms are clean, containing little more than beds to sleep in, but rooms that sleep two and three people are available at the same low price. The problems is that the shared bathrooms for the top floor rooms are down... more
Saise Guesthouse and Hotel
Northeast corner of Salavan
The Saise Guesthouse and Hotel are in separate buildings within the same enclosure at the north-eastern end of Salavan where the river loops around. The guesthouse rooms are basic and a bit grimy, but the price is fair. The hotel has air-con rooms with hot water bathrooms representing quite good... more
Miss Asim Guest House
Central Salavan, next door to the Thipphapone
The rooms here are cheap, but dingy with no exterior windows -- though they do have private bathrooms. It's primarily the central short-time place nowadays, so if you're in the market for a fan room, the Thippaphone next door is a much more comfortable... more
Ban Pak Gaeopansavanh
Along the main road, east of the bus station
This blink-and-you'll-miss-it place is located along the main road, marked by a small yellow sign that says 'Guest House' in English, and the rest is in Lao. Its main attraction is that it's convenient to the bus station and a good bit closer to the town centre than the Silsamay. Still, we don't... more
