The Savan Phatthana is one of the cheapest joints in town, but in terms of architecture, it was built with East Berlin firmly in mind. It's one of the ugliest choices in Savannakhet, though the broad smile of the staff helps mitigate that. Rooms are functional and cheap. A small outdoor seating area and large upstairs terrace provides some communal sitting space.
