This spacious wooden and concrete house, 400m south of the promenade, is the most popular backpacker's guesthouse in Savannakhet, with a good location and a range of rooms to suit all budgets. There's a charming, rustic decorating scheme throughout, and the place has a nice atmosphere with some good common areas to lounge around in. Unfortunately there's not a restaurant on site, but there is a good selection of restaurants in the immediate area. The cheapest rooms tend to go very quickly in high season. If you are on a budget and don't mind shared facilities, then this is good value, but if you want your own bathroom, the Sayamungkhun is better value, with more spacious facilities. The proprietor is very knowledgeable and speaks Thai and English. They used to rent bikes here, but on our visit, they were all broken.

Saisouk Guesthouse reviews

Read 1 opinions from Travelfish readers

Clean, Characterful, Good Value - 23rd July, 2009
At the Saisouk Guesthouse I got the last available room; it is popular. The guesthouse was in an old (mainly)wooden two-story building; it had tons of charm and character and very welcoming hosts. My room was the cheapest I'd had anywhere in Vietnma, Cambodia or Laos ($3), but was clean, reasonably spacious, airy and light, and fan-cooled. The big bed was comfy. The shared bathrooms were spotless. The neighborhood was quiet, until the morning roosters cranked up.
