Description
Right. You're thinking, What's up with the name? Answer: we have no idea. We assume something was lost in the translation. Still, this is probably the best budget backpacker option in town. The rooms are arranged in a two-storey long house with shared bathrooms, sporting cisterns and squat toilets on each floor. One of the baths downstairs has a shower head for bathing, but otherwise it's strictly a scoop and pour operation. The rooms themselves are quite decent, despite the already-peeling fake linoleum tile -- spacious with firm beds and mossy nets, and a table and armoire standard in every room. We found the staff incredibly shy, but extremely accommodating, though no English is spoken here. Excellent value for this price range.

Sekong Souk Samlane Hotel
River road, Sekong
Despite its echoing corridors, proximity to public radio speakers, and reputation for being haunted, the Sekong Souk Samlane has a lot going for it. It has a selection of restaurants across the road, and is about a 10-minute walk to the central market. Supposedly visited regularly by two Malays who... more
Koky Guesthouse
Central Sekong
This unique place offers three cozy, very pretty little rooms in what basically must have been someone's house at one point -- one of the rooms gives straight on to the kitchen! It feel a lot like a Laotian B & B, though no food is actually served to the guests. There's a comfortable lounging area,... more
Sack Da Guesthouse
On the road to the water tower, Sekong
This is a popular place for locals passing through the area -- probably because of its close proximity to the central market and most of the businesses in town which are clustered around it. It's located along the cross street that leads up to the water tower on the main road. We saw some small,... more
Pysaxay Guesthouse
Main road to Attapeu, Sekong
Located on the main road as you head towards Attapeu, the Pysaxay is in an isolated spot, but has some very distinctive features that make it worth checking out. The three-storey building is situated across the street from one public school, and right next door to another. The interior has nothing... more
Vangxang Savanh Sekong Hotel
On the river, Sekong
You can get here by following the bright yellow signs from the main road which lead you across the western side of town to its location on the river. The size of the place seems overly ambitious for a town like Sekong, but nevertheless they offer villas and guesthouse rooms in a building with a... more
Somchay Guesthouse
North of main road, Sekong
The Somchay is located on an unpaved side-street north of the main road and just east of the water tower -- just follow the signs. The rooms are sort of crappy, but even the fan rooms have private bathrooms, and they are all arranged around a pleasant courtyard in a quiet location. There is a small... more
