Description
Alongside the Tad Leuk waterfall is a friendly family-run camp site. With only a dozen or so visitors overnighting there every month, there's a good chance it will be deserted. There are no firm rules about where to pitch tents, though a grassy clearing is made available. Between October and April, consider setting up camp on the flat, rocky pavement adjacent to the waterfall. Tent, hammock and sleeping bag rental is available, and the staff will make up camp wherever desired. Toilet facilities are provided, but showering takes place in the river itself. Bring food -- only very basic items are available at the site.

Ban Houay Leuk, Thaphabat District, Bolikhamsai Province
This laid-back, unpretentious resort is located overlooking the Nam Mang and Nam Leuk rivers on the southern boundary of a nearby national park. Established in 2005, and now charmingly rundown, the resort buildings are made from local timber, bamboo and thatch and set atop the river bank. The... more

Deuan Savanh - Siphandone Guesthouse
Ban Thabok, Thaphabat District, Bolikhamsai Province
Just two doors down from the T&M is the Deuan Savanh - Siphandone Guesthouse consisting of a series of concrete single-storey blocks with garish turquoise exterior. Like the T&M, it is a typical Lao roadside guesthouse: clean, convenient and comfortable, but lacking in charm. A small bar and... more
T&M Guesthouse
Ban Thabok, Thaphabat District, Bolikhamsai Province
Built in 2005, T&M is a clean, simple guesthouse in the centre of bustling Ban Thabok. Located on Route 13 South and built in the style of a Thai concrete villa, it has none of the charisma of Tiger Lilly or Ban Pako. The location is convenient for local truck-stop eateries, as well as being close... more
