The Organic Mulberry Farm
Basic guesthouse, interesting spot

What we say:
The Farm is run by Mr. T, a charismatic Lao biologist trained in Bulgaria, and is located on the banks of the Nam Song, 4km north of Vang Vieng. The farm's mulberry plantations are fed on by the worms used to make silk and also used to make traditional Lao mulberry products, as well as a few less traditional products such as fruit shakes and pancakes! They're available both at the farm and the adjacent riverside cafe, and as packaged products to take home. The farm, which also produces other fruit, vegetables and spices using organic farming methods, aims to support local mulberry producers, as well as sharing agricultural insights and techniques through a wide range of grassroots projects set up on the farm. The Farm also has a basic guesthouse, including dormitory rooms, often occupied by visiting teacher-student groups from around the world, but open to all and a great place to get away from the tourist throng. Highlight of the accommodation are two cylindrical earth-block bungalows with glass bottles set in mortar for windows.

Fantastic sopt, a bit pricy for what you get
We stayed here three nights as we were volunteering with them for a week or so. The double rooms are fine but pretty small and quite far away from the restaurant and river. I think they are charging a bit much for the accommodation to be honest but the wonderful food and beautiful location (the restaurant is right on the river) make up for that. We actually moved 1min walk up the road to Greenview Bungalows which are just as close to the river but much nicer for cheaper and you can still eat or volunteer at the farm.
