Opposite the tubing rentals building, Viengvilay is cheap, clean and central. The four-floor guesthouse has rooms of varying size with decent wooden floors and sturdy furnishings. Guests have the option of fan-cooled or paying a bit more for air-con, though if you can wedge the wooden window frames open to let in the breeze you won't need it. All rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water showers and Western toilets. Some engaging views can be enjoyed from the higher floors, partially of the river but mostly of the streetlife below, though there's a shortage of seating on the balconies. A small restaurant sets up in front of the guesthouse and, like elsewhere, staff offer a variety of services such as tours, transport and laundry.
