Champa Lao
No frills near the party

What we say:
Champa Lao is one of two guesthouses on the main party island in the middle of the Nam Song, which is predominantly made up of shanty dance venues and chill-out bars, happily pumping out tunes until whenever the curfew happens to be. In early 2007 the bungalows were closed for repair. Their style remains the basic bamboo structure with no frills. Champa Lao now have rooms for rent in a pair of adjacent traditional Lao hardwood houses on the mainland overlooking the bungalows. The down-to-earth theme is continued here -- poky spaces, small shutter windows, simple furnishings, shared bathroom facilities and wafer-thin bamboo screen walls all represented in the price of USD2 a pop. In a great location, but not if you like an early night.

Great Accom
I stayed in Champa lao for 5 days & found it was lovely. The staff we're always happy & friendly. The rooms are very basic but the double bed we had was large, comfortable & had a good mosquito net on it that worked. We had a joint toilet which was ok. We got free breafast and had a choice of any eggs & a bread, fruit salad or waffles & a coffee or a tea. The wifi was also good and the social area was nice too. We only paid 60000 kip for the room & feel like we definately got our moneys worth. :-)

Not the safest....
The room was nice, in the bungalows- reasonably clean and the staff friendly. however, BE WARNED, it says dont leave stuff in your rooms- DONT. We left our camera and cash in our room whilst and supper- and ipod... By the time we were back they'd all gone. And the tourist police are a JOKE here. Other than that it really was nice- just dont be as stupid as us!

Great location
This place is open! And we stayed a few nights in a basic bamboo hut which was cosy, and a shared bathroom which was clean! The main walkway over to the island is scary for those scared of heights (me!) but the other bridge is a-okay! Excellent value for money!
