In the centre of town where the market once was, the Orchid Guesthouse maximises its river frontage with a tall white building with tiered tiled roofs. While the views of the river and mountains are great, its rooms follow the standard Vang Vieng formula - plain with a table and chair, a bed or three, fan-cooled or air-con, and attached bathroom with hot water. Listed prices are high, but they're quick to offer a discount. The location near party island means it gets a bit noisy at night, or just cross the bamboo bridges near the hotel and join the fun. The staff are friendly and sell tours, bus tickets and snacks.

Be prepated to dance in your bed

Stayed there for two nights in October 2010. We had a twin with mountain and island view, payed 80.OOO Kip. Room was clean, shower with warm water, beds comfortable. Just be aware that the music coming from the Bucket Bar will keep you up until the end of the party. So either join the party or change guesthouse...

Good rooms, friendly staff

Stayed there for 5 nights. Had a double room on the ground floor with a view, priate toilette and shower with hot water, and a shared deck for 6 dollars/night. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location a little bit away from the mainroad.
