In a clearing right by the river, Phoubane has taken one of the best settings in Vang Vieng and filled it with rooms to fit all budgets. Considering the tiny price tags, the cheapest rooms are fair value even though they contain little more than a bed. Bungalows with en-suite bathrooms are built in groups of three or four and have a shared balcony overlooking the garden, while more expensive ones are perched right on the riverbank with balconies jutting over the water. They're plain but comfortable and the bathrooms have hot water showers and Western toilets. Even newer, the deluxe air-con bungalows are bigger, brighter, and come with TVs, though we can think of better ways to spend your time in Vang Vieng.
