Domon River Guesthouse
A mini-splurge by the river

What we say:
Brand new for 2010, Domon is among the breed of big multi-level concrete guesthouses popping up along the riverbank. That said, it's far more attractive than its competition with grand white pillars and hardwood accents on its facade. If you're willing to shell out some extra kip for a great view, Domon's best rooms have private balconies overlooking the river but still cost under $20. All rooms, even the cheapies, are bright and spacious with relatively comfy beds, private balconies, satellite TV and attached bathrooms with hot showers. Staff sell bus tickets and can exchange money, plus free WiFi is the icing on the cake.

Friendly and well located
I told them I wanted good WiFi when I arrived so they put me on the street side, which did actually have a good signal and relatively fast speeds, but without the awesome views on the river side. I paid 100,000 kip including air-con, so it seems those rooms are indeed cheaper, but also quieter. They also run a small mini market out front and there are a bunch of (identical and) nice restaurants just a few meters away, so everything is easy and I'd definitely recommend this place.

Great location
Central location.Close to tubing station. Big tiled clean rm,a/c,fan,double bed, cable tv,thin doona, balcony with great views, good h/w shower(120,000kip). Manager very helpful-did my eyedrops, valuables looked after-you get a receipt. Overlooks bars across the water that pump out techno music from 10pm-2am. Earplugs first night but 3-4 beers after that helped. Would probably recommend room on street side plus it is a cheaper rate. Free internet. Lady manager understands english.
