Lovan has been open for years now and unfortunately is beginning to show it. Rooms are small, but of decent value, with air-con and a somewhat dingy bathroom with hot shower. The standard rust-coloured tiles and mismatched blankets make appearances here and little sets these rooms apart from others, save the price tag -- at 100,000 kip, these are among the cheapest air-con rooms in the city. This is a good and popular alternative in a quiet neighbourhood, but not too far from the action. Spacious communal balconies make for good people watching and story swapping. Try asking for a discount if you're on your own, especially in the low season.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.

Nice staff, very clean - 18th February, 2008
I had a room with no TV, I think I paid $5, the next day moved to a room with TV for $10 but it was not worth the extra money. Mattress could be thicker/softer. Very friendly owners/staff, very quiet location near stadium and museum.

Some trouble with the bathroom - 10th April, 2005
We stayed at Lovan for one night, and had some trouble here with the bathroom, because it didn't flush. Besides that no complaints. Not too much noise in this area.
